REMOTE CONTROL FEATURE ADDED TO SCANSOURCE VIRTUALTECHNICIAN

GREENVILLE, SC - November 13, 2007 - ScanSource, Inc., {Nasdaq: SCSC}, a leading international value-added distributor of specialty technology products, has added a remote control feature to its ScanSource VirtualTechnician (SSVT) remote monitoring and management tool. SSVT allows resellers to provide proactive monitoring and management services for point-of-sale hardware and software applications, including analyzing potential problems and repairing hardware or software malfunctions. The new remote control feature provides a secure way for point-of-sale solution providers to remotely access their end-user customers’ systems to repair these issues and address potential problems. Significantly, SSVT remote control does not require the end-user to open a port in their firewall, eliminating the security concerns associated with many common remote control packages.

Remote control is one of several modules being integrated into SSVT to provide a comprehensive support-related service for resellers to deliver to their end-user customers. Since remote control is integrated into the ScanSource VirtualTechnician interface, users simply click a box to activate the feature. In addition to ease of use and security, SSVT remote control also is more economical, allowing resellers to be more profitable. Instead of incurring upfront software costs, SSVT remote control is billed monthly as part of the SSVT solution and can be presented to the end user as part of an overall support contract.
